Onondaga Youth Hockey Association Initiation Program
The Initiation Program is a great way to introduce a child to hockey and build a solid foundation on which to grow. The primary focus of the Ititiation Program is to develop a love for the sport. Players and parents can expect an emphasis on fun and basic skill development (for example, learning to skate).
What equipment is needed?
Players are responsible for bringing their own stick, skates, helmets, etc. OYHA has a limited number of rental hockey equipment sets available for the season. Sizes are generally for smaller children, appropriate for players at the Thunderbolt, Initiation Program and Mite levels. Season rental is $60 with a $50 refund provided upon return of equipment. How do I sign up?
Like the bigger kids, Initiation Program athletes must register with both OHYA and USA Hockey (the $40 USA Hockey fee is waved for players with a birth year of 2009 or younger).
